Scientists from Australia’s Kirby Institute have collaborated with key PNG and US health research institutes in the first representative study of HIV and STI levels in PNG.
This research study was the first to use point-of-care testing, meaning that all participants were able to receive treatment within hours of being tested.
The findings of the study will help to create a ‘roadmap’ for future HIV and STI treatment plans in PNG.
