A US diplomat yesterday quit Myanmar’s Rohingya crisis panel, labelling it a ‘whitewash’.

Bill Richardson, formerly part of the Clinton administration, claims that the 10-person advisory panel is a ‘cheerleading squad for the Government’, and has called into question State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi’s leadership.

Mr Richardson has also criticized the way in which the media and United Nations human rights groups have been ‘disparaged’ by Myanmar officials.
