Banana farmers have taken flight, initiating an aerial culling of feral pigs in order to slow the spread of the banana disease, Panama Disease Tropical Race 4.
Local growers have joined together along with the Australian Banana Growers’ Council to carry out aerial culling as they wait for an official biosecurity government programme.
Panama TR4 was discovered in North Queensland in 2015 and the banana industry has since invested millions attempting to contain the disease.
