A Myanmar district court has rejected the bail plea from two Reuters journalists, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, who are accused of violating the nation’s colonial era Official Secrets Act.
In proceedings, the judge was told police found the two journalists in possession of documents containing information publicly available in newspaper reports.
Lone and Soe Oo were covering the Rakhine state crisis, where a military crackdown on insurgencies on August 25 triggered a flight response of nearly 690,000 Rohingya Muslims.
