In a recent statement, Amnesty International claims that Prime Minister Turnbull has ‘failed’ indigenous children in his response to the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory.
Indigenous Rights campaigner Roxanne Moore says that the Federal Government has not yet committed to a nationally coordinated plan of action able to hold States and Territories accountable.
This lack of commitment comes despite indications made a month ago by Minister Scullion that Federal leadership would be provided.
