The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is warning residents to prepare for a severe to extreme heatwave set to hit Queensland this weekend.
Temperatures will build this Friday, soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in some western, central, and northern parts of the state on Sunday and between 35 to 40 degrees Celsius along the eastern coast.
The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is calling for residents in affected areas to stay hydrated, wear cool clothing and to stay out of the sun to avoid heat-related illnesses.
