Workers at Linc Energy’s underground coal gasification plant in West Queensland’s Darling Downs were instructed to eat yogurt and drink milk to protect themselves from acid burns in their stomach.

Former gas operator, Timothy Ford - now deceased - detailed in a statement prepared for court that in response to needing time away from the plant for fresh air due to gas burns, management told workers to drink milk and eat yogurt before shifts.

The company has pleaded not guilty to causing serious environmental harm, however as the corporation is in liquidation there are no representatives to defend it in court.
