Due to recent discoveries in genetics, scientists are now able to estimate the Great White Shark population without having to catch or sight the animals.
Researchers from CSIRO estimated that 5500 Great White Sharks are living just off Australia’s east coast.
It is hoped that the research will be able to help advise policy and conservation efforts in the future.
