Three men part of an anti-patriarchy campaign were beaten by a crowd of about 40 people in the Indian city, Pune.

The victims were protesting against a community ritual of ‘virginity tests’ for young newlywed brides practised by the the Kanjarbhat tribe.

Local police officials confirmed that four offenders from the unidentified violent crowd had been arrested, however the practise continues to be endorsed by the tribal council leaders which acts as an extrajudicial body.
