An authority on judicial ethics has advised two Queensland judges to quit their roles as legal advisers to the Anglican church after controversy around the church’s response to child sexual abuse claims.

The recent royal commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse heard 371 complaints about the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane.

The two judges, Justice David Thomas and Justice Debra Mullins, both said they had no role in the handling of child sex abuse claims, and say they intend to keep their roles as honorary legal advisers.
