The Tasmanian Liberal Party has made an election promise to reduce the prevalence of the drug ice by banning motorcycle gangs from wearing their club symbols in public.

Similar to Queensland’s bikie laws, the party has explained that the police commissioner would provide advice about clubs that have allegedly engaged in illegal activity, which would then lead to legislation being tabled in Parliament banning members from wearing club colours.

The Greens party has criticised Liberal’s approach, with leader Cassidy O'Connor saying that “if the Liberals are serious about dealing with the scourge of ice they won't be tinkering around the edges like this."
