Victoria and New South Wales have become the first states to join the Commonwealth’s Redress scheme for sexual abuse survivors.
The announcement means at least 15,000 people will be compensated, counselled and supported through the scheme.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said we owe it to the survivors for how courageous they have been and he urged other states to follow their lead.
