150 people paid their respects at a smoking ceremony commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub bombings in Fortitude Valley yesterday.
Survivors and family members shared their stories of the firebombings which claimed the lives of fifteen people on the night of March 8 1973.
Indigenous Elder, Des Sandy told the crowd the smoking ceremony was to release the victims spirits so they may now rest in peace.
