The Crime and Corruption Commission has announced an investigation into certain Gold Coast councillors, including mayor Tom Tate.
Suspicion arose from allegations that Tate influenced council decisions for personal gain, neglected to acknowledge conflicts of interest, and accepted undisclosed benefits from a Chinese developer.
Community group Save Surfers Paradise alleged that the mayor failed to reveal a 50% shareholder stake in specific developments, violating the Local Government Act.
