There has been a record increase of international visitors to Brisbane, with around 1.3 million people visiting the city last year, 6.7 percent more than the year before.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk attributed this to Brisbane hosting more summer sporting events which contributed to more New Zealand tourists coming over.
Events such as the Rugby League World Cup, Ashes Test and the Battle of Brisbane gave more reasons for people to visit the city.
