There are fears that homelessness in northern New South Wales will increase due to the Commonwealth Games, beginning next month on the Gold Coast.
The number of people identifying as homeless in the region increased more than 40% between 2011 and 2016.
These figures are expected to climb higher as the Commonwealth Games may force homeless people on the Gold Coast to find alternative shelter.
