German public transport experts have recommended an overhaul of southeast Queensland’s transport system after a culture of mistrust was discovered between Queensland Rail and Translink.

The man that was given the task 13 months ago to completely change Queensland Rail has already provided the Queensland Government with recommendations in a stage one report.

The consultants said they saw an "opportunity to provide greater clarity of the respective roles and tasks, and a more effective structure, in relation to rail policy, planning and delivery on behalf of the government".
