Scientists at Western Sydney University have used stem cells to create human eye lens cells, and then grow them into eye lenses.
New research could mean some of the 100 children born with cataracts in Australia each year would not have the same experience as other children.
It is still early days for the treatment and it would need to be further developed and tested before it could be used in humans.
