Australia’s energy market operator states an additional 850 megawatts of power resources will be needed in New South Wales if AGL Energy is unable to complete its transition plan.

This statement has been made after AGL’s announcement to close the Liddell Power Plant in 2022 and to replace it with a more renewable option.

The Australian energy market operator says if AGL does not take this decision, the closure of the power plant could lead to shutdown of parts of the system.
