Experts have rubbished the logic behind Bob Katter's recent bid to cull crocodiles in North Queensland, saying the only way to stop crocodile attacks would be to eradicate the species altogether.

The Katter Party has proposed a legislation allowing the harvesting of crocodile eggs, culling by landowners and hunting safaris led by Indigenous rangers.

However, Northern Territory-based zoologist and crocodile expert Dr Adam Britton says educating people to act safely around water is a far more effective way to keep people safe.
