A museum for loo’s, the first of its kind for Australia, has opened Tuesday morning next to the Brisbane Luggage Point Sewage Treatment Plant.

The new memorial was part of a national campaign to celebrate the humble toilet’s part in Australian history.

Over the last fifty years as indoor plumbing became more accessible, outhouses have commonly been converted into sheds, however, researchers found at least one-hundred-and-twenty backyard dunnies are still in use across the country as part of their search.
