Queensland Rail’s New Generation Rollingstock trains have been refused an exemption from the Human Rights Committee.
A federal court injunction is threatening to halt the $4.4 billion dollar train fleet from hitting the rails, due to their failure to meet international disabled access standards.
The state government intended to use the new trains for the upcoming Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, seeking exemption on the grounds that they’re crucial in providing proper transport for the event.
