South Sudan, Iran and Somalia to be excluded from Australian refugee program

Refugees from South Sudan, Iran and Somalia will reportedly be “excluded” from Australia’s Community Support Program resettlement scheme.

The priority countries are now said to be the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Bhutan, Syria and Iraq.

Refugee advocacy groups have hit back have hit back saying that refugees from those countries are still facing significant persecution and should not be excluded.
