Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has closed the countries best known holiday island Boracay due to untreated sewage being dumped into the environment.
Duterte blasted the island’s hotels, restaurants and other businesses, accusing them of dumping sewage directly into the sea and turning it into a “cesspool”.
The closure has left many unsure over the livelihood of the thousands of staff employed on the island that serves two over million guests each year.
