New York police have killed an unarmed black father on the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination yesterday.
The police shot dead the 34 year old Saheed Vassell after mistaking a piece of pipe he was holding for a gun.
The identities of the police officers involved have not been released. New York’s attorney general is investigating the shooting.
