The Australian government is helping Papua New Guinea’s Tourism Promotion Authority turn Manus Island into a tourism destination.
The authority’s chief executive Jerry Agus says the island has great tourism potential, including diving, surfing and relics from the second world war.
The Island currently houses 600 refugees and has two hotels, one of which houses guards.
