A Chilean man believed to be the oldest in the world has died aged 121.

Celino Villanueva Jaramillo, born in 1896, died in hospital after complications from falling out of his bed a week earlier and puncturing his lung.

The centenarian has not been formally recognised in the Guinness World records due to being unable to properly verify his birth, however his Chilean ID card puts him four years older than the Guinness-listed oldest person.
