The “man drought” in Australia is promoting the use of loaded terminology such as “leftover women” according to documentary maker, Mariona Guiu.

Miss Guiu’s documentary Singled Out found for every five women there is only one “available” man in Australia and the quality of male partners have not necessarily improved as women have become more independent.

Australian women are becoming accustomed to their “single existence” as the pressure to find an adequate partner is toxic and is made more difficult by societal norms and expectations.
