The Council is reportedly selling 450 acres of Commonwealth crown land to affordable housing developers in Brisbane’s bayside suburb of Birkdale, after countless homeless people have been squatting in the area.

The sale angered members of the community who say the land has immense historical and aboriginal value, and say the council are using the affordable housing argument as an excuse.

Locals are urging members of the community to attend a meeting at the Thornside Community Hall at 2pm this Sunday the 20th of May, to discuss the issue.
