Astronomers have made the most distant ever detection of oxygen in a galaxy of stars that existed around 500 million years after the Big Bang.
Scientists reporting in the Nature journal say this discovery is related to the Cosmic Dawn which was when the universe was first bathed in light.
Although, the team of researchers cannot see this critical period directly until the James Webb space observatory is launched in 2020.
