Indonesian President Joko Widodo is urged by civilians to quickly put child marriages to an end after experts state the issue has reached “emergency point”.

This situation came into light after reports state Indonesian girls as young as 14 are pervasively placed in marriages in the country.

Although the legal age for marriage in Indonesia is 19 for men and 16 for women, underage couples can still perform this act if they are given permission by a religious court.
