An independent public inquiry into the Grenfell tower fire will begin on Monday in London, almost a year after the fire which killed 72 people.

 

The inquiry was first formally opened in September 2017 by Sir Martin Moore-Brick who was handpicked by British Prime Minister Theresa May to lead the inquiry.

 

The inquiry will open with two weeks of commemorations from loved ones of victims of the fire, after commemorations the inquiry will look into the events of June 14 and the fire safety practices of Grenfell tower and the response of emergency services.

 

The inquiry is said to be the largest public probe in British history, with 547 participants appointed so far.
