A Brisbane art collector has paid almost $3 million for a painting by one of Australia’s best landscape artists, Fred Williams.
The collector bought Forest Pond, which was painted in 1974 after Fred Williams first came across a pond in Ferntree National Park in the Dandenong Mountains in 1968.
Brisbane gallery owner, Philip Bacon, says $3 million is the highest price ever paid for a Fred Williams painting.
