150,000 cows are to be killed in New Zealand in order to eradicate Mycoplasma bovis bacteria from the national herd.
This decision is expected to completely eradicate the bacteria, improve long-term productivity and reduce production losses on farms.
Politicians and industry leaders anticipate this decision will cost $886 million New Zealand dollars.
