A coroner has determined that the death of a 91 year old woman in Tasmania’s Royal Hobart Hospital could have been prevented with proper risk assessment.
The woman died three days after falling and fracturing her hip, with no staff present to witness the fall.
The woman’s cognitive function had declined and her risk of falling was not properly assessed, prompting the coroner to state the hospital should have taken more action to prevent her fall.
