French President Emmanuel Macron has rewarded a 22-year-old migrant with a French citizenship and a job as a firefighter.
Mamoudou Gassama was awarded these rights after scaling an apartment building, climbing five floors to save a young child dangling from a balcony.
He has been regarded as a hero, also being awarded with a medal from the president for “courage and devotion”.
