Statistics show the percentage of people leaving Brisbane for interstate has increased by almost 60% since 1996.
Although Brisbane’s population is continuing to grow, hitting 2.27 million in last year’s census, the rate of growth is slowing.
It appears more people are leaving the city to head over the border, with Melbourne having overtaken Sydney as the most popular capital city when Brisbanites leave Queensland.
