Yesterday evening Italy’s Prime Minister, Sergio Mattarella, selected populist candidate, Guiseppe Conte, as his pick to be the country’s next Prime Minister.
The move comes three months after inconclusive March elections, which spread political uncertainty following a crash in the financial markets.
Conte’s nomination will impact Italy’s economy by rejecting austerity and endorsing an increased spending approach.
