The Brisbane City Council has guaranteed the State Government that for the next 10 years, Brisbane Metro will not run at a deficit within the existing transport budget.
Every bus and ferry operating in Brisbane is currently being backed by Transport for Brisbane, which is funded 75% by the state and 25% by the council.
Transport chairman Adrian Schrinner said that the existing and projected funding will be enough to keep the expected 60 Metro vehicles operating in 2023.
