Researchers from the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language, have been working to transcribe and preserve over 300 of Australia’s Indigenous, endangered languages by using artificial intelligence.

Partnering with Google and using machine learning, the group is looking to break down transcription, one of the biggest barriers to documenting languages.

So far, the group has recorded almost 50,000 hours, which has involved going into communities and documenting massive amounts of audio from native speakers.
