Nine people have been injured following Croatian police opening fire on a van carrying twenty-nine mainly Afghan and Iraqi migrants, who tried crashing through a roadblock after entering the EU from Bosnia.
Two children are in a serious but stable condition but the others only suffered minor injuries.
Zadar police chief, Ranko Drazinam, says the police reaction was justified because their lives were in danger, so they were forced to open fire.
