Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has warned Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, that if Assad fires at Israeli forces, he will carry out direct missile strikes against Syria.

Netanyahu told Assad that his regime is “no longer immune,” and “if he fires at us, we will destroy his forces.

This is a significant escalation in the confrontation in Syria, for it marks the first time it’s been stated that the Assad regime would be punished for the presence of Iranian forces, which have been fighting ISIS and Islamist rebels.
