A Curiosity rover on Mars has detected the most complex organic matter found so-far since the robot landed on the Red Planet in 2012.

Jennifer Eigenbrode, Astrobiologist from NASA said that the discovery is a significant breakthrough because it means there are organic materials preserved in some of the harshest environments on Mars.

The rover also found evidence that may suggest there are seasonal variations of methane on mars, this may suggest that the planet is producing the gas itself.
