Brisbane City Council will spend $40 million over the next three years to turn flood-prone land into sporting fields.
The new sporting facilities will be located at Wakerley, Chermside, Mitchelton, Moggill, Rocklea and Windsor.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said that a synthetic surface will be used at four of the locations, which is a first for the Brisbane council.
