Australian born British gay rights activist, Peter Tatchell, has been detained by Russian Police and charged with breaking the law for holding a one man protest in Moscow.

Tatchell was protesting the human rights abuses of gay men in Chechnya, where dozens of men have come forward and spoken out against the use of torture in prison facilities.

He has been charged with violating Federal Law 54 and the Presidential Decree 202, which ban all protests around the Kremlin during the World Cup.
