An offensive effort by Saudi-led coalition forces on the Yemen port of Hodeida [HODAYDAH] has been condemned by the UN Security Council.

The coalition’s attack was justified on the suspicion that the Hodeida port is used by the Iran-backed Huthi rebels to smuggle weapons.

The port makes-up 70% of Yemen’s imports, including vital food and aid for the 8.4 million people who are at risk of starvation, according to the UN.
