Senior rights group Greysafe has called on banks to mark Elder Abuse Day by preventing financial elder abuse.
The group said job cuts and new technologies are further threatening elders with financial abuse and dedicated staff should be hired to tackle the issue.
Greysafe Chief Mike Cahill said that common reports of elder financial abuse includes: money being spent without permission, forging signatures and forcing older Australians to sign bank forms.
