Argentina cast a vote on Thursday to legalise abortion during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
Thousands of activists celebrated the news as the bill passed 129 votes in the affirmative to 125 against.
The bill will be now passed onto the senate where it needs to be approved to become law. It will be an uphill battle given the divide in Argentina between the Church’s heavy influence and social progressiveness.
