Astronomers have taken pictures which record radio waves blasting into space and destroying a star.
Stuart Ryder from the Australian Astronomical Observatory said a super-massive black hole had engulfed the star, which was 2 to 7 times the mass of the Earth’s sun.
Astronomers said the destruction could not be seen through traditional optical telescopes, which suggest a number of other significant events in space go undetected.
