The Brisbane Bushwalkers Club is celebrating 70 years of being more than a walking group as they look  at their history of rescues, overseas adventures and lasting friendships.

The group have been exploring Brisbane since 1948 and in 1955 the group were the first to the tragic scene of the Lincoln Bomber crash at Mt Superbus, a mercy flight that lost everyone on board.

This year the more than 800 members will hold a dinner in July that will showcase their history.
